A blueprint for designing a welcoming homepage that converts
Are you struggling to understand what to include on your website homepage?
Ever visited a website and felt like you couldn’t navigate it well or didn’t know where to focus your attention?
Or you were immediately confused as to where to click or what the website was offering?
Over the years, I’ve seen a lot of problematic website homepages (even high-end brands!) that just left me feeling confused and frustrated.
Nearly every time, I chose to leave the website because I didn’t enjoy the experience.
And it reflected poorly on the brand. I definitely wasn’t going to put my trust in or buy online from a company whose website wasn’t built with care or thought about the customer.
How do you attract the right visitors and keep them engaged with your content?
In this post, I’m touching on a strategic approach to designing an organized homepage that creates a calm, welcoming environment - One in which your visitors will want to stick around and engage with your content - A blueprint to help guide your homepage layout and give you confidence in what to include and where.

Not a fan of chaos? Neither am I.
There’s plenty of chaos out there in the world, and we don’t need more in our daily lives - or especially in our businesses.
In order to minimize chaos and feel efficient and productive, I personally need to have a tidy, organized space to really focus and produce my best work.
I truly thrive on a sense of calm that comes from things being in their place.
A good homepage first-impression matters
A website is your business’s online “home”. And likewise, it operates more effectively and just feels better when it’s tidy, organized, and thoughtfully planned out.
Think of Marie Kondo’s “spark joy” philosophy... but for your website.
Just like a home, if your website’s homepage is poorly organized, cluttered, missing important functions and features, or lacking a welcoming feeling, your visitors won’t want to stick around.
You won’t be able to capture their attention - and more importantly their trust - in order to deliver the exceptional products and services you provide.
Your homepage has a lot of jobs to accomplish right off the bat. And it’s your visitor’s first glance of who you are and what you offer, so a good first impression matters!
Now imagine…
How to take your website homepage from chaos to calm
The design of your website’s homepage is so important when marketing your services and products.
And I don’t just mean how beautiful the design is... I’m also talking about user experience, copy, placement, spacing, color, and more.
These aspects matter and can make the difference between a homepage that feels chaotic versus a homepage that’s calm and inviting.
But where do you start?
Just like building a home, the best place to start is with a blueprint. You need a plan, structure, and guidance to create a welcoming, organized layout with a strategic flow of content.
Important aspects of building a strong homepage include copywriting, layout, and design. And they should all work in harmony to serve important purposes:
✔︎ To confirm to the visitor that they’re in the right place
✔︎ To address the visitor’s problems and how you can solve them
✔︎ To engage further with the visitor through calls-to-action (CTA)
In my homepage blueprint, I’m breaking down the important elements and features needed to create a calm and welcoming homepage.
With a calm and welcoming homepage, you’ll be able to:
Capture and maintain your visitor’s attention
Build trust with well-designed features and thoughtful information
Deliver the exceptional products and services you provide
No more chaos.
Whether you’re starting with a blank canvas or updating your website
My Homepage Blueprint will help transform your homepage from chaos to calm, putting you on a path to attracting and captivating the right audience.
As always… happy designing!
